PostSubject: Rest in peace Mark "Desert Mouse" Sayer   Rest in peace Mark "Desert Mouse" Sayer EmptyMon Jun 04, 2012 3:35 pm

You may have already read the topic I have composed at the Thorn Valley Forums or had read the bad news about Desert Mouse from Gadgetphile here at The NIMH Lodge. It comes with great sorrow that the avid gun hobbyist, animation fanatic, NIMH fan, NIMH Lodge and Thorn Valley regular, Desert Mouse/Whiskers57 is no longer with us.

Mark "Desert Mouse" Sayer

January 22, 1957 - May 8, 2012
An obituary from the Daily Journal has noted Mark's death.
Quote :
Mark Allen Sayer, 55, of North Edwards, Calif., died May 8, 2012. Mr. Sayer was born Jan. 22, 1957, in Japan, to the late John Nelson Sayer and Martha “Pat” (Ramsey) Briley.
Mr. Sayer worked at Edwards Air Force Base as an aerial ground
equipment mechanic, as a civilian for the U.S. Air Force. He proudly
served in the USAF for eight years and was honorably discharged in 1982.
He enjoyed cartoons, guns and John Wayne films.
In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Sayer.
Survivors include his brothers, Larry, Phillip and Brian Sayer; two
sisters, Cindy Daughery and Carla Jones; longtime friend, Troy Frugé;
and a host of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be at noon today at Carlisle–Branson Funeral
Service and Crematory, 39 E. High St., Mooresville, with calling there
from 10 a.m until service time. The Rev. Arthur Brown will officiate.
Burial will be at White Lick Cemetery in Mooresville.

I remember Mark as a member who always had something positive to say and would share the most interesting articles he found with others. I have never read anything negative he had to say about anyone. In his free time away from his job as a Bomber Support A.G.E Tech, he stopped by many animation websites and forums such as Acorn Cafe, Animated Lust, and other NIMH sites.

When I first joined the Thorn Valley Forums back in April of 2006, Mark was the first user to greet me in my introduction thread. When I decided to create my NIMH Fansite and the first NIMH Lodge, he supported me throughout the time I raised it from the ground up. He even offered to link my website to his, so I made a quick banner and gave it to him to use. When I had the first NIMH Lodge running, he was the first to register and post on the board. I dubbed him the first moderator and he held his position with interest, although there was never a problem on the forum. (I still thank him for it of course!) I'll miss Mark a whole lot; he was one of the greatest contributors and regulars to The Secret of NIMH Fandom.

Rest in peace, Mark. I miss you, buddy.

Out of respect, I am going to leave Desert Mouse's account the way it was before he died. If his family members find his account, they can use it to further communicate with us if they wish to.

On another note, I've made a few changes to the forums in honor of Mark. Forum update June 4, 2012:

-Colorized staff members.
-Created a scrolling announcement in memory of Mark "Desert Mouse" Sayer.
